HRW wheat bids hold steady

Hard red winter wheat basis bids in the US Plains were steady on Monday in a mostly quiet market, merchants said. Protein premiums were steady except for a 3-cent/bu drop for 11.80- and 12.00-percent protein wheat supplies. Wheat offers plentiful but mill demand limited - merchants. Farmer selling was light. Wheat experts eyeing chances for a light freeze as far south as the Oklahoma-Kansas border this week.
There were reports of rust disease in the Texas wheat crop. Kansas City Board of Trade HRW wheat futures were expected to open steady to mixed on Monday after the benchmark May contract ended up 8-1/4 cents at $4.70 on Thursday. Markets and wheat dealers were closed Friday.
