Six people have been indicted in an alleged scheme to defraud the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) of $102 million, the US Department of Justice said on Thursday. The alleged scheme centers on the export of agricultural commodities to Mexico, US Attorney Jose Angel Moreno said in a press release.
Moreno and representatives of several other US agencies announced the indictment in Houston, Texas. Four of the six individuals indicated were arrested on Thursday and warrants remain outstanding for the other two.
