Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif here on Tuesday took strong notice of roughing up a director Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) by PML-N MNA to secure release of TMA contractor and sought report from director general ACE. CJ observed, "All citizen are equal before law and nobody is above the law".
As per details, TMA Iqbal Town Faisalabad was involved in two cases of corruption and the ACE team led by Assistant Director Zahid Nizami arrived at Commissioner's office and surrounded the car of MNA Abid Sher Ali as the contractor Nasir Butt was sitting inside the vehicle.
Seeing ACE team the contractor locked the car doors and phoned the MNA who was busy in a meeting with Commissioner. Meanwhile, ACE had handcuffed contractor after making him leave the car. The MNA immediately rushed to the spot, snubbed the ACE officials and asked them to release Butt.
On being informed of the situation, ACE Director Shamim Jehangir also reached the spot and asked his subordinates to arrest the contractor by any means. At this, MNA got furious and allegedly roughed up the director and asked him to leave the place along with subordinates. Eventually ACE team had to return empty handed after receiving a call from central office.
