The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Wednesday issued notice to the Punjab government for May 10 in a petition challenging appointment of provincial law secretary Dr Syed Abul Hassan Najmi. The petitioner Arif Raja advocate contended that incumbent secretary law had worked 10 years as secretary Punjab Assembly and retired in 2008.
But the provincial government appointed him secretary law after his retirement in violation of article 240 of the constitution and Civil Servant Act Punjab 1974. He said under the law no retired person could be appointed on contractual basis against a permanent post. The petitioner-lawyer prayed to the court to set aside the appointment of the respondent and declare it violation of law.
