National Judicial conference begins today

A three-day National Judicial conference under the auspices of Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan begins today (Friday), aimed at reviewing the judicial policy.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Registrar SC and Secretary Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan Dr Faqir Hussain said that CJ Federal Shariat Court, Chief Justices of High Courts, attorney general and judges of SC, advocates general and judges of the High Courts and district and sessions judges of four provinces will attend the conference.
On the first day of the conference, he said, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry would inaugurate and address the conference. He said the NJC offers a unique opportunity to the judges of the superior courts, members of the Bar and other professionals to interact, share experiences and crystallise issues, faced in the administration of justice in the country at all levels.
He said all the stakeholders of judicial system are invited to attend the conference. He added that the paramount importance of holding the conference lies in identifying the future role of the system of administration of justice in the light of existing and emerging problems and to undertake short-term and long-term planning for legal and judicial reforms.
