A 2-year report for the period from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2010 has showed that cases were registered against 112 police officers and personnel under Police Order. These officers included 8 Police Inspectors, 13 Sub-Inspectors, 17 ASIs, 14 Head Constables and 60 Police Constables, the report as presented to Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza said.
According to the report departmental action was taken against 18,087 police officials and personnel during the two years under review. Of them major punishment was awarded to 111 Police Inspectors while 857 received minor punishment, besides 249 and 1,849 Sub-Inspectors, 380 and 2,817 ASIs, 226 and 1,597 Head Constables and 1,273 and 8,728 Constables respectively. Reviewing the report, the Home Minister made it clear that negligence in duty, carelessness and negative attitude will not be tolerated and a strict purging process will continue to remove black-sheeps from police department.
