17 Apr, 2010

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif here on Thursday disposed of suo motu proceedings initiated against arrest of the culprits of sodomizing and strangulating a student Muzamil. Although the culprits could not be identified or arrested so far, the CJ disposed of the case with directions to the police to arrest the real culprits.
The police arrested two accused, Muhammad Shahbaz and Muhammad Awais, friend and cousin of deceased. However, the police had to release them after they were proved innocent by their DNA tests. The Chief Justice had taken suo motu on December 03, 2009 on a news item published in local press saying that Muzammil, the only brother of four sisters, found dead after being sodomized.
