Body formed to revamp cooperative system in Punjab

The Punjab government has constituted a committee comprising experts of co-operative system to trash out loopholes in the existing co-operative structure and making recommendations to revamp Co-operative System in the province.
This was disclosed by the provincial minister for agriculture and co-operative system, Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh while chairing a meeting of the Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Ltd on Friday. The meeting was attended by Joint Registrar Housing, Cooperative Societies, Punjab, Managing Director, PPCBL and heads of Division of the Bank.
While reviewing the progress, the minister directed field functionaries of the Cooperative Department and Bank to exert their sincere result-oriented efforts for the recovery of 'Non-Performing Loans in the best interest of both the institutions and nation as well.
He also warned that strict disciplinary action would be initiated against employees who failed to deliver the desired results. The minister also instructed to maintain Staff Movement Register in all offices of the Bank as well as Co-operatives Department at all the levels to monitor attendance and evaluate progress of the staff.
The minister also stressed to take effective measures to improve co-operative system for making it farmer friendly. He further said that government is focusing on farmer friendly policies to enhance farmer's income and to increase agricultural productivity for which effective co-operative system can play instrumental role to achieve desired results.
