APMA welcomes minorities' quota in Senate

Provincial President, All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) NWFP Prince Javed expressed gratitude to government for reserving four seats in the senate for minorities in the constitution. Addressing a press conference he thanked President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs, Shahbaz Bhatti and said that minorities of the province welcome people-friendly acts of the government.
Those present on the occasion were Salman Prince, Yar Khan (Kalash), Hardiyal Singh, Ramdas, Chaudry Stephen Khokar, Imran Inayat, Gulzar Khokar, James Shafi and Chaudry Azam Gill.
Talking about the achievements of PPP led government, Prince Javed lauded the reservation of four seats in the senate, a no go area for minorities in bicameral parliament of Pakistan and 5 percent quota in the federal government services for them. He said August 11 has been declared 'Minority Day' in the country and prayer room has been established in all prisons for worship. He said that PPP has always protected the constitutional rights of minorities.
