The Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr Javed Laghari said the HEC eyeing on to upgrade all the national universities by facilitating 70 percent of PhD faculties till 2020. While addressing the convocation 2010 of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology held at university science campus (Gulshan), here on Saturday.
He said HEC has been arranging all the possible facilities for national's future scholars and providing them 3,800 PhD scholarships for foreign universities and 3,500 scholarships for national universities to maintain Quality Assurance Programme (QAP), for that purpose the Quality Assurance Cell have started their work throughout 45 national universities.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr Muhammad Qaisar said we had been trying to franchise or get affiliations some foreign universities to enhance the quality of our research and development works and might start student exchange programmes with well-known foreign universities.
He said that the university provided quality education in five major faculties and 43 departments, equipped with 71 Ph.D and 59 M Phil out of 500 teaching faculties and all the teaching except some special cases, had been conducted in national language (Urdu).
The VC congratulated all the students, their parents and relative for being graduated and wished to utilise their potential for nation building and become positive part of the society. He also mentioned the grant from HEC is insufficient, as the university has just been formatted, it needs more funding and support.-PR
