Major public sector organisations planned growth of cricket in the country on the pattern of PIA Cricket Colt (under-19) Programme. National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and the State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) have also decided to encourage the talented youth.
For the purpose a meeting was held on Friday afternoon at the National Bank head office participated by the President NBP Ali Raza, Chairman SLIC, Shahid Aziz Siddiqui and MD PIA Captain Aijaz Haroon for envisaging hunting, selecting, growing and developing talent for professionalism in the cricketing world.
Both, NBP and the SLIC intend to achieve this aim through four pronged strategy: Firstly by catering to the academic, communication, grooming, etiquette and computer literacy needs of the selected budding cricketers from all over the country through professional selectors. Secondly the selected under-19 team would be trained on-the-campus in cricketing skills. Thirdly legendary cricketers of Pakistan would be invited to be their (budding cricketers) mentors and role model on the cricketing pitch.
The selected youngsters during the training would be continuously assessed by the selection and monitoring committee, which will also determine 'Star' players having shown outstanding skills during training. Lastly, the under-19 team would also be provided travelling opportunities for participating in matches across the country and abroad. Such a support in developing the cricketing talent in Pakistan will help prepare disciplined and talented cricketers with Sportsman Sprits.-PR
