One child was killed and 11 other injured in a bomb blast outside a school on Jamrud Road, near Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar. The injured were rushed to nearby Khyber Teaching Hospital. One of the injured boy succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The injured mainly include students of the school. The low-intensity blast also damaged the nearby shops.
The blast reportedly occurred in an empty tuck shop situated at Police Public School situated on Khyber Road, the main artery of the city. The shop is property of school. The blast was so powerful that it was heard kilometres away from the spot. At least two vehicles were also destroyed in the blast parked outside the school, where a large number of people were present to pick up their children.
The busy Jamrud Road, where all important educational institutions, including Peshawar University and other educational institutions are situated was later closed for vehicular traffic. After the blast police cordoned the area and Bomb Disposal Squad collected samples from the area. According to Bomb Disposal Squad, at least two-kg explosives were used in the blast.
