The Tajir-Mazoor Industry (TMI) Ittehad has decided to established a "Protest camp" at Chowk Clock Tower here from Apri 21 against the severe power and gas outages in Faisalabad. The decision was taken at the executive committee meeting of the TMI Ittehad, which met here on Monday under joint chairmanship of Mirza Shafique Ahmed, Chairman, Faisalabad Industry Units, Waheed Khaliq Ramay, President, Powerlooms Owners Council and Aslam Mehraj, Chairman, Pakistan Qaumi Labour Ittehad.
Addressing the meeting, the business leaders lamented against the apathetic attitude of the government for prolonging unscheduled loadshedding and gas shutout in flagrant violation of an Agreement reached between the Minister for Power and Water, Raja Muhammad Ashraf, Minister for Textile Industry, Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, and the local traders' representative associations and instead of giving relief to trade and industry from this curse of loadshedding and gas shutout, the Fesco authorities have clamped over 12 hours loadshedding and weekly gas shutout, which has totally ruined the trade and industry. They said that due to severe loadshedding and gas outage, thousands of mill workers have become jobless as the mills have switched over to two shifts instead of three shifts.
