The provincial capital received heavy rain in the wee hours of Saturday, which provided much needed relief to the people from sizzling heat. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department Lahore, the city received 4.2 mm of rain, which only lasted for a short period. However, the rain brought down the mercury by almost 5 degrees Celsius, as on Saturday 36 degrees Celsius was recorded while the minimum temperature was 20 degrees Celsius.
Other parts of the country also received rain, including Jhelum 28 mm, Murree 23 mm, Rawalakot 19 mm, Islamabad/ Rawalpindi 17 mm, Mandi-Bahauddin mm, D G Khan 9 mm and Sialkot 4 mm. For the next 24 hours, the met office has forecast mainly hot and dry weather in most parts of the country. However, rain/thunderstorm expected at a few place of Sindh-Makran coast, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. However, more rain is expected at isolated places of upper parts of the country on May 10.
