12 May, 2010

Under the federal government's energy conservation plan, Islamabad is presently saving over 40 megawatts of electricity a day, after a successful dialogue of Islamabad Police and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration with traders and other members of the civil society.
"Islamabad police and ICT administration have successfully implemented the energy conservation plan and at present the Capital is saving 40 megawatts per day," sources in Islamabad told BR on Tuesday. They said the Cabinet Committee on Power Conservation has also appreciated Islamabad police and ICT administration for taking adequate measures and saving energy in the conservation programme.
Islamabad City was consuming 320 megawatts per day but due to the efforts of police the consumption was reduced to 280 megawatts per day, they added. Islamabad is comparatively leading all other districts in the energy conservation plan. The strategy adopted by Islamabad police has been welcomed by all segments of the society, sources maintained.
