'Technology exhibitions vital for industrial growth'

The technology exhibitions in Pakistan is a need of the hour and a major source of bringing new trends in trade and industry. This was stated by Vice President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Zakria Usman.
Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of 6th International Plastic Printing, Packaging Industry, Food Equipment and Technology exhibition, the chief guest said that Pakistan is in dire need of industrial growth to overcome ever-increasing unemployment and technology exhibitions are a great tool to provide awareness among the industrial sector for balancing, modernisation and replacement (BMR).
He especially mentioned the example of India who has achieved a tremendous advancement in technology and has become a big source of export of machinery and equipment in the region. He also stressed the need of holding similar exhibitions of Pakistani manufacturers' machinery and equipment abroad in order to explore international markets and bring export orders. He urged upon the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to play its due role in this regard.
The three-day technology and machinery show, which took off on Wednesday, is show-casing a number of food technology and printing and packaging machinery and equipment as local and international exhibitors from India, China and Taiwan have set up impressive stalls.
Lohia Group from India has become the main attraction of the Indian Pavilion, which has displayed poly propylene weaving machines which weaves the plastic bags with a speed of up to 950 rpm.
As many as 55 companies are displaying their state of the art machinery and equipment in the three-day extravaganza and the organisers are hoping a good turnover of trade visitors to the show despite global economic slow- down. The show is also open to the general public from Thursday.-PR
