TCP has stock of 80,948 metric ton of sugar: Fahim

Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim has said that Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has a stock of 80,948 metric ton of sugar as of May 10, 2010. In written reply to a question to the National Assembly, the Minister said that a total of 68,948 MT of sugar has already arrived against the orders and another 97,175 MT is expected by the end of May and around 75.000 MT per month will reach Karachi till the complete ordered quantity is met.
He said that the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has directed TCP to import a total of 1.2 million MT of sugar. The decision is already under implementation. Import orders for 0.575 million tons have already been placed and balance quantity (0.625 million tons) procurement will complete by the end of June 2010, he said.
