PDI starts training on boat repairing

Participatory Development Initiatives (PDI) has started one month training camps on "Boat Repairing" at Kharo Chan District Thatta to impart the boat repairing training to poor fishermen of Mal and Kanher Creeks of Taluka Kharo Chan Thatta district Sindh.
According to press statement issued from PDI House Karachi here on Friday, the training workshop is being conducted under WWF Indus for All supported community based Natural Resource Management Project. PDI has selected six fishermen for training, an expert of boat repairing at Gharo; Mohammad Hassan Samo would train the trainees of workshop.
Local official, Fishermen Co-operative Society (FCS) representatives and large numbers of fishermen participated in an inauguration ceremony of the training workshop. The participants of the workshop lauded the activity of PDI supported by WWF, saying that PDI is providing opportunity to fishermen to resolve their issues at their doorsteps.
PDI programme officer Syed Shahzad Shah said that PDI is believed in philosophy of serving people and to resolve their issues at their doorstep. He added that thus type of PDI training workshop for poor fishermen not only financially empower poor community peoples of fishermen but also save their precious lives.
He added that PDI is engaged not only in advocacy for resolving the key issues being faced by fishermen of the area but also organised thus type of workshop providing training facilities and encouraging community peoples for a sustainable development.-PR
