Alleged manhandling of member: FAP demands action against police officials

18 May, 2010

Farmers Associates of Pakistan (FAP) has asked Punjab government to take action against police official allegedly involved in mistreating its member in Jhang district.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club here Monday, Vice Chairman FAP, Hussain Jehanian Gardezi, Chief Co-ordinator, Dr Tariq Bucha and Director Safdar Salim Sial said police action against Intekhab Haider Khan of Jhang district was an act of highhandedness, which should be checked by the authorities concerned. They alleged that the member had been victimised for raising voice against non-issuance of gunny bags to wheat growers by Garh Mor Procurement Center.
Police not only lodged FIR against the member, but also virtually occupied his petrol pump. "It is a shameful act of police," they said. They said the FAP members would be forced to launch protest if action was not taken against the police officials involved in the crime.
