Musharraf was not the only architect of NRO: S M Zafar

Veteran politician and eminent jurist Senator S.M. Zafar has said that the former President Pervez Musharraf was not the only architect of "National Reconciliation Ordinance" (NRO), as there were several others.
"The NRO was a consequence of an agreement between Pervez Musharraf, late PPP leader Benazir Bhutto, United States and United Kingdom, he said while commenting on a statement of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani that the Supreme Court should summon NRO's architect for his version for promulgating the NRO. A former judge of Supreme Court, Wajihuddin Ahmad, said that Prime Minister Gilani was playing politics on the issue of NRO.
"The Prime Minister knows that it is only the Federal government that can proceed against a person charged under Article Six of the Constitution ( high treason charges)", he added. Wajih said if the Prime Minister was serious about prosecuting the architect of the NRO, then he should file a reference against Pervez Musharraf instead of asking the superior courts to do so.
Replying to a question about dismissal of Interior Minister Rehman Malik's appeals by the Lahore High Court against the judgement of the Accountability Court and revival of three years sentence awarded to him by court in absentia, Senator S.M. Zafar and former Justice Wajihuddin said that Rahman Malik must immediately get stay order against the High Court verdict and bail before arrest from the Supreme Court, otherwise he could be arrested any time under law of the land.
