Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon, along with 11 other suspects appeared before the court on Tuesday, where they were sent on judicial remand till November 4.

The next hearing of the case is on November 4. Memon has been sent to jail over Rs 5.7 billion corruption charges. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against Memon for his misconduct in payments regarding advertising campaigns.

It was revealed that Rs 5.7 billion was paid to seven advertising companies, which was a violation of Sindh Public Procurement Rules 2010. Memon was accused of issuing contract to advertising agencies at excessive rates without confirming the market rates. This had resulted in the loss of more than Rs 5 billion.

On Monday, Memon filed a plea for transitory bail before the Sindh High Court chief justice, stating that he will challenge the decision in the Supreme Court. However, the court dismissed his bail petition and Memon was taken into custody by the NAB officials.
