After Samsung and China’s ZTE, Huawei plans on introducing its foldable smartphone too by next year.

The CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group, Richard Yu mentioned in his interview that the company is working on a foldable phone. He informed that the company won’t launch the device until next year since the product needs to be better with flexible screen technology and better mechanical design but, there is a sample ready already.

“We already have a working sample,” he said. “We have two screens. But we still have a small gap [between the screens]. That's not good, and we should get rid of that gap.”

Samsung launches its new flip phone

According to CNET, Yu believes that his company will outdo one of the biggest smartphone makers: Apple and Samsung on becoming the greatest smartphone vendor ever. “We will overtake them definitely. That's our destiny. Maybe I'm not humble ... but nobody can stop us.” At present, Huawei ranks as the number third phone maker in the world.

Companies including Samsung are also rumored to launch its foldable phone soon. LG and Apple too have been tipped to introduce similar technology in near future. Chinese company ZTE also introduced its own version of foldable smartphones last week. These moves point towards foldable technology to be the hardware innovation that phone manufacturers have been seeking, stated Tech Radar.
