"I am very delighted that I played a fine knock and inspired the team to a decent total in our last T20 of the series against Sri Lanka", he told APP in his post match comments after Pakistan beat Lanka by 36 runs to win the series 3-0 here on Sunday at the Gadaffi stadium.
He expressed his gratitude to the Sri Lankan team for visiting Pakistan and said it is good to see international cricket being played in Pakistan.
"Lankan team has visited Pakistan after nine years and it is a special moment in Pakistan cricket history", he said adding, "with the return of international cricket more teams will also visit Pakistan in due course of time".
To a question, he said he keeps himself in good trim by doing work out in gym and also lays special emphasis on his daily cricket practice.
Sri Lankan captain, Thisara Perera said his young team was learning with passage of time and he is confident that it will perform good in its future tournaments. He praised the bowling skills of the Pak bowlers and termed them (Pak bowlers) best in the world .
“ Pakistan has a deadly bowling attack and it caused problems for us in todays match", he added.
The Lankan captain praised the lively crowd present at the Gadaffi stadium and said it was very good experience to play in Lahore in front of such a supporting crowd.
Pakistan captain said he was delighted that his team won the T20 series with a clean sweep.
He said playing at home in front of own crowd has its own flavor and it serves as an added inspiration to perform better.
"I am thankful to the Lankan team for visiting Pakistan and I am also thankful to all concerned for making this match a success”, said the home captain.
He said Pakistan young team is performing well and improving with each match and young players are working hard to elevate the status of the team.
"Collective efforts are the key to our success and I am sure that our team will effort to maintain consistency in coming cricket events," he said.
