Social media sensation Qandeel Baloch was murdered at the house of Mufti Abdul Qavi’s close friend, police told a court on Monday.

On Sunday, the Multan police also claimed that important revelations have come to light following the receipt of Mufti Abdul Qavi’s polygraph test results, which will be made public soon.

Qandeel’s father told the court that his daughter was murdered on Qavi’s orders. He pleaded for him to be punished, local media reported. The statement of Qandeel’s father was recorded in the presence of Qavi. The suspect is currently in physical remand and is under investigation for the murder of social media sensation.

Prior to her murder, Qandeel, whose real name was Fauzia Azeem, revealed that she was worried about her safety. She even appealed to the interior ministry to provide her security. Qandeel also accused Qavi of inappropriate behavior. “I thought I would expose him as he is in reality,” she told AFP at the time, adding, “He is a different person alone and different when he has his followers around him”.

After her killing, Baloch’s brother Muhammad Waseem and cousin Haq Nawaz had claimed responsibility of the murder that they committed in the name of ‘honour’.
