Kati chairman to represent Pakistan in Colombo summit

09 Jul, 2010

The Chairman, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati), Razzak Hashim Paracha will deliver a keynote address on "The New Dynamics for Economic Development at the 24th CACCI Conference and Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2010 from 7-9 July 2010 in Colombo.
The speakers from various Asian countries would discuss the issue that Asian economies have been confronted with major changes in international economic and financial conditions as a result of the recent global crisis. Renewed inflationary pressures and a slackening external demand have created new policy challenges for macroeconomic management, while the sub-prime crisis has refocused attention on financial regulation, supervision and reform. Persistent global imbalances and the weak dollar also suggest that global conditions will continue to complicate stabilisation efforts and threaten to magnify the consequences of policy missteps.
The Kati chief who is also the Chairman, Standing Committee, Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufactures and Exporters Association on WTO has been invited by the Confederation of Asian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) to attend the meeting.
The Conference will focus on the current challenges faced by economies in the Asian region, identify priorities on which countries and companies in the region need to focus that can contribute to their competitiveness, and recommend some policy responses to the changing conditions at home and abroad that governments, international financial organisations and private sector participants can adapt to ensure growth and macroeconomic stability in Asia over the medium term.
Various sessions in the conference would focus the issues such as "Climate Change: Mitigating its Impact on Business and Economic Development, Investing in Human Capital and Technology for Sustainable Economic Growth, Issues on Food Security and Opportunities in Innovative Agriculture/ Plantation, Economic Implications of an Aging Population: Challenges and Opportunities, Foreign Direct Investment Opportunities in Asia & Pacific, Accelerating Infrastructure Development, Fast Tracking the Economy and FTA's Role in Promoting an Export Economy.-PR
