Health facilities in prisons: LHC calls report from Punjab government by July 19

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has called report by July 19 from the Punjab government in a petition praying for improvement of health facilities in prisons. Mohammad Asghar Ali a prisoner in Kot Lakhpat jail filed the petition through his counsel Mohammad Azhar Siddique and submitted that to get basic health facilities is a constitutional right but in prison the inmates are denied this basic right.
He said the dispensaries and hospitals established there had in adequate facilities and even in some serious case no such facility is available at all. He said that the provincial government should be directed to provide the health facilities to the prisoners.
