Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has said that the personality of Mohtarama Fatima Jinnah was a personification of a candid struggle that gives today's women a lesson to remain steadfast on principles of modernity and progressivism with courage and wisdom. The Speaker said this in her message on the 43rd death anniversary of the Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah being commemorated on July 9.
Eulogising the services of Fatima Jinnah, Fehmida said that Mohtarma was an active political figure in the movement for independence and was the primary organiser of the All India Muslim Women Students Federation. She said that Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah actively participated in national politics after the creation of Pakistan and death of her brother and pursued her mission for the welfare of people till she breathed her last.
She said that Fatima Jinnah aggressively worked for women empowerment and was a role model not only for Pakistani women, but also the Muslim women of South Asia. She said that prominent political leaders like, Begum Rana Liaqat Ali, Begum Nushrat Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto worked for the welfare of women by following the foot-steps of Madar-e-Millat. She called upon the women to follow the footsteps of Madar-e-Millat and contribute in making Pakistan the modern, moderate and truly Islamic welfare that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his sister had envisioned.-PR
