US MIDDAY: corn soars

Corn futures rose for a second straight day at the Chicago Board of Trade early on Thursday as concerns about deteriorating crop conditions in the US Midwest sparked fresh hedge fund buying this week, traders said. At 9:43 am CDT (1443 GMT), CBOT September corn futures were up 6-3/4 cents at $3.85 a bushel.
