There is a lot of logic and sense in the attached letter from A.B. Shahid, which appeared in your letters columns on 17th June 2010 under the caption "FBR must mend its ways." Now even the World Bank has indicated to the SECP that e-filing of tax returns should be made optional for companies because of low usage of internet in Pakistan.
Individuals, specially those without the facility of computers at home and who do not have the knowledge to do e-filing, have to pay tax consultants to do e-filing on their behalf. At least companies have the resources to pay the consultants, but most salaried people and other individuals, have limited resources and a large segment is not clued-up to do e-filing. So the FBR is requested to make e-filing optional.
