14 Jul, 2010

The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Tuesday adjourned for 3rd week of September the hearing in a petition challenging construction of Benazir Bhutto monument in Rawalpindi or elsewhere with public exchequer, as law officer sought time to file reply.
Petitioner Syed Feroz Shah Gilani advocate had submitted that Benazir Bhutto Shaheed could not be declared a national hero, as she was involved in different cases of corruption and had been absconder in many cases. He said PPP should not be allowed to construct monuments for its Shaheed leader at the cost of public fund. Petitioner said BB's two governments were dismissed on the charges of corruption and in competency. He said the head of such a government could not be a national hero.
He, therefore, prayed to the court to remove the names of politicians including Ms Bhutto from national assets like Islamabad International Airport, hospitals, government and semi-government departments and institutions.
