Punjab Finance Minister, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said the federation has paid instalment of Rs 5.1 billion as royalty of Net Hydel Profit (NHP) to Punjab while the outstanding amount would be paid in next two years. He was talking to a delegation of provincial parliamentarians on Wednesday, an official disclosed. The minister said the Punjab government has adopted a firm stance regarding the outstanding dues.
"The federation would pay Rs 28 billion to Punjab under the head of NHP and so far it has paid Rs 18.1 billion," he added. He said since 1996, Punjab had been deprived of its legal right of NHP, however, the present government evolved an effective strategy and succeeded in getting approval of its demand from the federation.
