US copper rises

15 Jul, 2010

US copper futures closed higher Tuesday, bouncing from an almost one-week low, in sympathy with rallies in the euro and equities, but growth worries in top-consumer China capped the advance. Copper for September delivery rose 0.85 cent to settle at $3.0175 per lb on the COMEX metals division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
-- Range extended down from $3.0350 to $2.9720, its lowest level since July 7. COMEX estimated copper futures volume at 21,196 lots by 1 pm EDT (1700 GMT). Final volume Monday at 25,756 lots. Open interest up 1,124 lots at 128,784 contracts open as of July 12.
