Soomro orders probe into degrees of 23 SBC members

Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro Wednesday announced to check authenticity of some 23 members of Sindh Bar Council (SBC) who were wrongly enrolled in Urdu University The provincial law minister stated this while addressing a press conference in the capacity of SBC's vice chairman in his office at Sindh High Court.
He was flanked by Advocate Naeem Qureshi, Advocate Sadruddin and other SBC members. He said PBC, in a letter, had told his office that HEC had refused to accept degrees of the said 23 SBC members. Showing a list carrying names of the lawyers, Soomro said he would get authenticity of the 23 degrees checked from the concerned university. Reacting to claims of Karachi Bar Council's President, Mehmoodul Hassan, the law minister said his tenure as a vice chairman of SBC would end on August 12. He said no scoundrels would be allowed to get hold of the Sindh Bar Council. The law minister declared to fight a legal war with those who had waged the same against his side.
Soomro said being VC of the Bar he would now hold a meeting at Badin Bar Council against the will of his opponents. He told the gathering that the federal government had transferred Rs 11.2 million to SBC which would be used for the development of a hostel for the lawyers.
