Prices move both ways amid modest trade on seed, grain market

Prices moved both ways on the wholesale grain and seed market on Saturday as a few buyers were active in making deals to cover the short-term needs, dealers said. On the cereals side wheat old and new (Bardana) with bag were down by Rs 10 to Rs 2340-2355, other items held the overnight levels in process of trading, they said.
On the rice sector Irri-6 Sindh both types were lower by Rs 50 to Rs 2650-2675, other varieties did not show any change before closing, they added. Many changes were seen on the seed side. Rapeseeds Nawabshah low type retained the overnight level at Rs 1640 while better type gained Rs 20 to Rs 1670.
Rapeseed Dadulane inferior type shed Rs 50 to Rs 1350 while the best type was up by Rs 75 to Rs 1500. Cakes moved slightly up by Rs 5 to Rs 740-745 and cottonseeds oilcakes low type retained the overnight level at Rs 1050 while good type was higher by Rs 20 to Rs 1080, they said. Grams sector showed no variation mainly because of balanced demand and supply position, they said.
