The Lahore High Court on Monday issued notices to Attorney General Pakistan and Advocate General Punjab for July 27 in a petition challenging mushroom growth of fake educational institutions in the country. The petition was filed by Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey who sought court's directions for government to close all fake and unrecognised colleges and universities.
The petitioner submitted that scores of bogus and ghost institutions had been functioning in Pakistan unchecked. He said these educational institutions in fact were playing havoc with the careers of youth. He pointed out that the government had no mechanism to check private colleges and universities as they were minting money from students and providing nothing in return.
