The death toll in the fresh wave of targeted killings rose to seven in the metropolis on Tuesday. In the first incident, a man was gunned down in the limits of Awami Colony Police Station, Landhi Town. The deceased was identified as Yousuf, 28. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
An unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing a 20-year-old youth in Saleh Mohammad Goth, Malir Town. The body was brought to JPMC for an autopsy. In Malir area, a middle-aged man Ghulam Akber, aged 30, was shot dead near Jamia Millia College. The body was moved to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. Armed assailants gunned down 40-year-old Mohammed Ashraf alias Qasai in Rafahe-Aam Society Malir. The body was shifted to JPMC. The deceased was said to be an activist of Punjabi Pakhtoon Ittehad (PPI).
After the killing, violence broke out and two vehicles were set alight within the jurisdiction of Alfalah Police Station. Two men identified as Azhar Butt and Fazl-e-Qadir were gunned down in Gulistan-e-Johar, when armed men opened fire on their car. The bodies were later brought to JPMC. One Ashraf Hussain was killed in a firing incident in Orangi Town. The body was shifted to JPMC.
