Weeklong art exhibition commences

A week-long exhibition of paintings of two gifted artists Sehr Jalil and Marria Khan Tuesday opened at Lahore Art Council's premier Alhamra Art Gallery at Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam. The two-person show entitled "Drift" has rich collection of 25 paintings in different mediums. Sehr Jalil, who has been adjudged as one of the top ten young painters of Pakistan, has put up ten paintings in the exhibition.
She has used different medium in her paintings including acrylic paint, oil paint, felt tip markers, markers etc to give a profound cultural effect to her paintings. Talking to Business Recorder, she said, "I get inspiration from my own environment even if it is polluted by violence, bomb blasts, poverty, creating a relationship with it".
My paintings depict that life goes on; extreme feelings are mostly short lived and people continue to enjoy life as it comes to them," she philosophised. The other painter at the exhibition Marria Khan put up 15 paintings for exhibition in the art gallery. She used mixed media for her visual expression with acrylics, markers, ink, spray paint, glitter on transparency sheets. A large number of art lovers of Lahore are visiting Alhamra Art Gallery to appreciate the paintings, blended in colours of realism, of the two painters.
