Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Wednesday announced the annual results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part II Home Economics Group Annual Examination-2010. The students of Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics secured all the top three positions. According to the BIEK announcement, Zarin Imam d/o Manazir Imam secured the first position by scoring 984 marks out of 1200 with an A-1 Grade (82 percent).
Hira Farooq d/o Umer Farooq secured the second position scoring 982 marks out of 1200 with A-1 grade (81.83 percent). According to the statistics, a total of 343 students got registered, out of which 340 appeared in the annual examination, whereas 224 students were declared successful.
The success percentage was recorded at 65.88. Only 04 students bagged the A-1 grade, while 23 were placed the A grade, 59 in the B grade, 82 in the C grade, 53 in the D grade and three students were placed in the E grade. Talking to the media, the top position holder Zarin Imam expressed her ambition to become a nutritionist.
Hira Farooq, the second position holder, said the government should upgrade the status of the Home Economics college to the university level. She also urged the authorities to start the MS programme. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman BIEK Anwar Ahmed Zai said the board has decided to print the roll numbers of students on question papers in future. It has also been decided to print the picture of candidates on their marks sheets, he added.
