No let-up in targeted killings in Karachi: toll tops 11

A man was killed and the bullet-riddled bodies of three more persons were recovered from various areas of the city on Wednesday, police said. With this, the death toll in recent spate of targeted killings has risen to 11. Two-day old bullet-riddled body of Faiz Rasool Khan was found in a gunny bag at Orangi Town, in the limits of Iqbal Market Police station.
SHO Liaquat Ali said the documents found from the pockets of the victim revealed that he was the resident of Baldia Ittehad Town and two days ago his family had got registered a case of his missing. He said the victim hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and was a labour by profession, adding that e was killed over some personal enmity as the victim's affiliation with any political party could not be confirmed.
Similarly, another body of Syed Amjad Ali, son of Syed Liaquat Ali was found near Taisar Town at Northern Bypass in jurisdiction of Surjani Town police station. The body bore torture marks. SHO Altaf Dahar said the victim was resident of Sector 5-D, New Karachi and unidentified assailants after kidnapping, killed him and threw his body at an isolated place of the Northern Bypass.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) and later Edhi Morgue. No case was registered till filing of this report. In another incident, armed men, after kidnapping killed a 28-years-old Baloch youth and threw his body at the Lyari Expressway, in the limits of Pak Colony police station.
Unidentified suspects after kidnapping the youth, shot a bullet in his head and threw his body at Pak Colony area, police said. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained, police added. The body was moved to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities and later on moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. In another incident, a faith healer was gunned down at a shrine situated at Qaiser Complex in the limits of Model Colony police station.
DSP Farooq Sher Zaman said victim Tahir Ali had set up a khanqah at his home at Qaiser Complex, Surti Society, where people used to visit him for resolution of their problems. On Wednesday, three armed persons came there and sprayed Tahir with bullets. He died on the spot. Inayat Ali, who is said to be Tahir's mentor, entered the room after hearing the gunshots and got hold of one of the attackers. However, the attackers fired at Inayat, injured him and making good their escape.
