The Punjab University on Sunday announced that its annual admissions to MA and MSc will start from August 18 and classes will commence from September 20. Pro Vice Chancellor and Chairman Admission Committee Prof Dr Ch Jamil Anwar told APP that advertisement will appear on August 13.
Entire process of admission will be conducted absolutely on merit and to be completed by September 17 in all teaching departments positively while regular classes will start from September 20.
He said that all merit lists will be displayed on notice boards and uploaded on website strictly in accordance with the admission schedule. He said that VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has constituted a high level committee to closely monitor admission process.
He said that salient features of the admission policy 2010-2011 along with computerised application format will be upload on varsity website for the convenience of the students.
He said that website down loaded forms will be accepted. He said that entry test for 12 MA/MSc subjects will be completed ahead of the commencement of annual admission.
Dr Jamil said that admission to MA/Msc evening, self supporting and replica will commence from August 23 and classes are scheduled to start from September 27 positively. He said entry test for these courses had already been conducted and its results announced on July 22 last. Regarding admission to B.S 4 years program, he said that tentatively these will start from August 30 and classes will commence from October 4 while its entry test for six courses will start from August 6 to be completed by August 16.
He said that all heads of the faculties have already been directed to ensure admission in their respective departments failing which strict action will be taken. He said that if any merit violation is noticed it must be brought to the knowledge of member of the admission committee for prompt action and redressal of genuine grievance on the spot.
He said that VC will also himself pay series of surprise visits to different departments to check the foolproof merit based admission. Regarding fee, he said that fee which he added is the lowest in entire Asia, despite financial constraints, has not been increased for the half decade by the VC to encourage students from all segment of the society for pursuing higher education.
