DIG Punjab calls explanations of 39 traffic police officers

Explanation of one Chief Traffic Officer, 13 SPs and 25 DSPs of Traffic Police Punjab posted across the province was called for with 4 warnings for showing shoddy performance in regulating the traffic.
A total of 39 explanations from January 1 to May 31 last were issued to DSPs, SPs and Chief Traffic Officers besides issuance of warnings to 4 DSPs, 1 SP while two DSPs and 1 SP were served displeasure notices.
A total of 15 letters of advice were also issued to 3 DSPs, 7 SPs and 5 CTOs. Official sources told APP here on Sunday that Additional Inspector General of Traffic Police Punjab,Muhammad Zahid Mahmood has directed DIG Traffic Police Capt Muhammad Amin Vance(R) to monitor the overall performance of all CTOs, SPs and DSPs along with their subordinate staff with special reference to smooth flow of vehicular traffic on all important arteries across the province especially in big cities.
During the period under review 39 Traffic Wardens including 21 from Lahore and other ranks were dismissed from services while service of another 208 officials were forfeited besides 9 demoted to lower ranks.
