Commodities, kirana items' rates increase on Ramazan buying; world prices depict firmness

The most Ramazan items such as cloves, cuminseed, and milk powder maintained sharp rise, though world prices showed firmer trend but by and large were affordable. On Monday, gram 50x50 shed Rs 150 to Rs 4650, while the other type was quoted at Rs 4850 and gram dal 50x50 shed same amount to Rs 5300 and Rs 5500.
Elsewhere price nearly remained firm because supply matched the demand. On Jodia Bazaar (per 40-kg) cloves ended higher by Rs 1000 to Rs 20,000. Copra from India was up by Rs 650 to Rs 4800. Kalonjee also scaled higher by Rs 200 to Rs 8400, peanuts rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3600. Sago scaled up by Rs 450 to Rs 3400, cuminseed rose by Rs 700 to Rs 9500, darchini up by Rs 600 to Rs 5800 and corianderseed rose by Rs 150 to Rs 2700.
On Tuesday, masoor Canada low type was down by Rs 300 to Rs 7,200, better type by Rs 100 to Rs 7500. Masoor dal Canada inferior type was down by Rs 400 to Rs 8600, while better type lost Rs 100 to Rs 9000. Urad Punjab gained Rs 50 to Rs 4700. Irri 6 Sindh rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2675, while the other was quoted at Rs 2700. Cotton cakes with bag low type lost Rs 10 to Rs 1040, while the better type was put at Rs 1080.
On Wednesday wheat old with bardana was quoted at Rs 2310 and Rs 2320, wheat new also was firm at Rs 2325 and Rs 2335. Cottonseed cakes Sindh low type shed Rs 40 to Rs 1000, while the better side lost Rs 30 to Rs 1050.
On Jodia Bazaar chemicals (per kg) NJ Taiwan ended down by Re 1 to Rs 191. Formic acid Pak ended down Re 1 to Rs 98, formic acid from Germany lost same amount to Rs 105 and citric acid China shed Re 1 to Rs 85, petro jelly Iran white was quoted at Rs 43 and sulphonic acid HARD rose by Rs 3 to Rs 163.
On Thursday moong Sindh lost Rs 500 to Rs 8500, moong Punjab however, rose by Rs 100 to Rs 8500. Wheat old with bardana was quoted lower at Rs 2300, wheat new also was quoted lower at Rs 2315, gur low type conceded Rs 100 to Rs 6700, while the other type was put at previous rate. Gram yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 150 to Rs 3350, while the other quality lost Rs 50 to Rs 3500. Yellow peas dal Canada rose by Rs 150 to Rs 3650, while the other variety was marked at Rs 3800. Cotton cakes in Sindh low type rose by Rs 40 to Rs 1040, while the other type was rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1060.
On JB skimmed milk powder (per 25 kg) from Nurpur rose by Rs 450 to Rs 7600, while older Burger rose by Rs 300 to Rs 9000, vegetable corolac rose by Rs 200 to Rs 8900. Haleeb veg rose by Rs 500 to Rs 7200 and Milco veg rose by Rs 900 to Rs 8600, unsweetened (per carton) King of Kings rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3800, while pineapple (per carton) Polac rose by Rs 55 to Rs 1530.
On Friday not a major change was seen on the wholesale grain and seed market on Friday as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for the Juma prayers.
On Jodia Bazaar chemical items moved both ways The variations were : CHEMICAL ITEMS (Per kg): Caustic soda flakes Saudi was quoted at Rs 46 and sodium sulphate was quoted at Rs 14.
PETROLEUM JELLY: DDBSA moved upward by Rs 5 to Rs 135, PVA Japan went higher by Rs 3 to Rs 225, and caustic Taiwan moved downward by Re 1 to Rs 44.
RANGOLITE 'C': China closed higher by Rs 4 to Rs 86 and Germany was quoted at Rs 92.
On Saturday most of the participants were on the sidelines due to balance demand and supply factor. Guwar Sindh shed Rs 50 to Rs 4100-4200 and guwar from Punjab low type was down by Rs 150 to Rs 3950 and good type was lower by Rs 200 to Rs 4000. Irri-6 Sindh gained Rs 75 to Rs 2750-2775.
On Jodia Bazaar plastic moulding compounds closed mixed. The changes were: PLASTIC MOULDING COMPOUNDS (Per lb): HDPE (FILM): Saudia 952 edged down by Rs 3.50 to Rs 61, Mobil closed lower by Rs 3 to Rs 61 and TR144 ended downward by Rs 3.50.
HDPE (INJECTION): Iran moved lower by Re 1 to Rs 66. HDPE (BLOW): Marlex Singapore finished down by Rs 4 to Rs 65 and Iran went lower by Rs 4 to Rs 61. LLDPE: W118 moved downward by Rs 3.50 to Rs 64.50, and 7087 edged lower by Rs 3.50 to Rs 64.50.
POLYPROPYLENE (FILM): Thai ended down by Rs 1.50 to Rs 67.50, Kuwait closed lower by Rs 1.50 to Rs 67.50 and India moved downward by Rs 1.50 to Rs 67.50.
POLYPROPYLENE (TAPE GRADE): India ended lower by Rs 2 to Rs 64, Kuwait finished down by Rs 2 to Rs 64 and Saudia went downward by Rs 2 to Rs 64. POLYPROPYLENE (INJECTION GRADE): Saudia edged down by Rs 2 to Rs 67, India ended lower by Rs 2.50 to Rs 67 and Kuwait moved downward by Re 1 to Rs 67.
POLYSTYRENE: Pakistani ended down by Rs 275 to Rs 3,660. HIGH IMPACT (Per bag): Pakistani was quoted at Rs 4,122. ABS: Polylac 707 finished up by Rs 180 to Rs 6,100.
