Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said government's long term measures have succeeded in stabilising the economy, as macro-economic stability has been restored and economy was back on its growth path.
He was talking to Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shabaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti here at the PM Secretariat, a press release said. Gilani, however, stressed the need to find new avenues for additional resource creation.
Prime Minister said allocation of existing fiscal resources was being done prudently and optimally to meet competing demands of various sectors of the economy. He said the government has largely achieved economic targets set for the first two years, foreign exchange reserves were at a respectable level and workers' remittances were increasing. Chief Ministers thanked the Prime Minister for his support to the provinces and assured full co-operation to explore new avenues for additional resource creation.
