Six relatives of Bajaur based journalist, Zafarullah Banori including a teenager girl have been injured in exchange of fire between the security forces and militants. It was third consecutive strike either on his own house of his close relative during last two years.
In first strike, the house of Banori, working for ATPN was completely destroyed while in two other incidents the house of his uncle hit resulting in his injuries and killing two passers-by on the spot. The most recent strike on his family compound was occurred during mid night of July 26 in which a mortar shell hit his house situated in Bahi China, 10-kilometre East of Khar, headquarters Bajaur Agency.
The incident resulted in the injuring of six people, including a teenage, Aasia 14, who was rushed to Agency Headquartres Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Zafarullah Banori along with his whole family has quit his native town and migrated to Peshawar where they were living as internally displaced persons (IDPs). The journalist community of Peshawar has demanded of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other government agencies for extending relief assistance to the family and close relatives of Zafarullah Banori.
