Quetta market fire victims demand compensation

Traders in Quetta on Wednesday demanded of the government to ensure compensation to the shopkeepers of scrape market, as they had to suffer 50 million losses due to the fire, which gutted the whole market weak ago. This was stated by the shopkeepers during a protest demonstration staged at double road to press the government to compensate the shopkeepers of the market.
As many as 150 shops were destroyed by the fierce fire when it broke out in mini petrol pump located at the back of scrap market and seized the entire market in no time. About 50 million is an estimated aggregate of loss that the traders who deal the expensive electronics, blankets and watches in the market had to suffer, said a shopkeeper Agha jaan adding loss could have been lesser if the fire tenders were in sufficient number and were equipped with basic fire extinguishing equipment.
There are over hundred shops in the market and subsequently attached with it, which were completely destroyed by the furious fire, he lamented. Mehmood Khan another victim said that Scrap shop was his only means of earning, which after the fire has left no other option for him to run the business of his home. The traders including Janan, Agha Jan and others called upon the government to ensure the compensation to their loss enabling them to meet the needs of their families.
