Members of Farmers Associates Pakistan (FAP) have appreciated the decision of the government to remove the regulatory duty on export of cotton yarn from Pakistan. The tributes were paid to the government at a specially convened meeting under the chairmanship of Syed Hussain Jahania Gardezi, Vice Chairman FAP, said a FAP spokesman here on Wednesday.
The FAP members greatly appreciated efforts of the Minister of Food & Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal and the Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh for making this decision, which will undoubtedly be very beneficial for the cotton growers.
The members acknowledged the efforts and approach of the federal minister for Food and Agriculture who has on many occasions previously also stood by the farmers such as in the case of maize, wheat etc. The members were confident that the honourable minister would always stand by them by supporting the farmers in their various predicaments, which clearly proves present government's policy of safeguarding the interest of farmers generally and the cotton growers specifically.
FAP is confident that government will not yield to the pressure of people with vested interest to consider policies detrimental to the farmers and always take the farming community into confidence before considering any new policy measures.
