President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday ordered the setting up of a special cell in the Presidency to monitor the flood situation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that the cell will work round the clock and will co-ordinate provision of facilities to the provincial government for transportation of relief goods to the people in flood affected areas.
The cell comprising senior officers of Presidency Tashfeen Khan, Taimur Azmat Usman, Shahzada Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Hussain and the ADC to the President. The cell has been directed to work round the clock and keep the President informed about the flood situation regularly during his France and UK visit. Meanwhile the President also called the Governor and Chief Minister, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on the telephone to enquire about the latest situation in the province. The President assured the Provincial Government of support of all the Federal Agencies in tackling the flood situation. He also inquired about the wellbeing of the Chinese engineers and workers who had been trapped in the floods.-PR
