OUP holding workshops for CDGK teachers today

The Oxford University Press (OUP) Pakistan is conducting workshops for the teachers of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) with concurrent sessions for pre-primary, primary, and secondary level courses on July 31 at the OUP Head Office here.
A spokesperson of the institution said here on Friday that it was a part of its ongoing teachers training programme. It was pointed out that the CDGK had established English medium schools in different underprivileged areas of the city to teach the students with modern and latest educational techniques.
"Since OUP recognises the importance of working closely with teachers in view of the ever-changing classroom needs, these workshops have been organised to provide suggestions and advice on how to enhance teaching and learning in every subject by building upon and enriching the content of textbooks and sharing ideas and teachers experiences," the spokesperson added. The textbooks covered in these sessions pertain to the core subjects of English, Urdu, Mathematics, Social Studies and Computer Science, and are aimed at developing language, reading, writing, and quantitative skills of children at different levels.
The series include Oxford Progressive English, Urdu Ka Guldasta, New Countdown Mathematics Intro, New Mastermaths, Know Your World, Secondary Social Studies for Pakistan, Computer Whiz and Right Byte. The daylong workshops with multiple sessions will be conducted by Rahila Ashraf, Saria Alvi and Fozia Ahsan Farooqui.
Rahila Ashraf is an accomplished presenter with wide teaching experience at some of the prestigious schools of Karachi. Currently a member of staff at the OUP, she has done intensive research for OUP's various educational publications. Saria Kashif Alvi holds a Master's degree in Engineering and is currently teaching at one of the city's highly reputed schools. She is an accomplished workshop conductor with admirable subject knowledge and ability to involve the audience and hold their attention.
