Wasim for mobilising Motorway police to meet flood's challenges

Wasim Kausar Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police, has directed the officers of NH&MP that they should turn their attention to mitigate the effects of natural disasters and mobilise itself to meet the challenges posed by the worst monsoon disaster and ensure the smooth and free flow of traffic with the best efforts.
He was speaking with the officers while visiting National Highways at Lahore. The DIG Syed Ibne Hussain was also present on the occasion. He said the recent rains have resulted in an alarming situation and in particular been hit hard to national Highways & Motorways. He said the extensive flooding has affected bridges, hospitals, roads and communication networks have been washed away and landslides have blocked major road-links.
He further said the level of water in dams and barrages across the country continues to rise, while flooding in low-lying areas of National Highways and Motorways could worsen within days. The thousands of people affected by the rains and floods need help. The stranded need rescuing while those in risk zones need to be evacuated; it is essential that the Motorways police officers divert every possible resource towards this end.
