Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Sunday said government is taking proper steps for providing maximum relief to the people of flood affected areas.
He urged civil society and non-government organisations (NGOs) to come forward to play their role in this regard.
Talking to Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Punjab, Mian Muhammad Hanif at Governor's House, the PM said rehabilitation of flood affectees could only be ensured when all segments of the society extend co-operation.
The PM asked PRCS to send its representatives to different areas across Pakistan and ensure provision of relief to the flood-hit people. He directed PRCS to liaise with provincial governments, NDMA and other departments to take solid measures for ensuring provision of medicines and other facilities to the flood victims. On the occasion, Mian Muhammad Hanif apprised the Prime Minister of the steps being taken by PRCS in the affected areas.
He said in the light of directions of Prime Minister, it would be ensured that all possible steps are being taken to help the flood affected people. Hanif also informed the Prime Minister about the performance of PRCS.
